We are hiring a Content Marketing Manager to create short- and long-form content in a variety of formats for multiple distribution channels. This role will be instrumental in building brand awareness, generating leads, and supporting sales and business development by sharing our story with a variety of target audiences. The role reports to the VP of Corporate Marketing and Communications. This position is open to either remote locations or for a flexible in-office position at our Emeryville, CA office.

Sound Agriculture is helping to create a more sustainable way of growing food through the reduction of synthetic chemicals and a new, faster breeding technique. The Content Marketing Manager will play a critical role in spreading our mission by sharing compelling stories and factual information across all forms of content. This role will collaborate closely with product marketing, sales and business development to fully understand target audience profiles, identify content needs, and stay educated on product development to inform content creation. The ideal candidate will be an excellent storyteller and self starter, with a solid understanding of the agriculture landscape.

Responsibilities: 

  • Create engaging content across all formats and channels targeting a variety of audience segments
  • Establish an always-on content strategy rooted in audience insights that aligns with broader company goals
  • Manage projects and proactively collaborate with internal and external stakeholders who have insights that can support accurate and compelling content creation
  • Identify creative ways to share stories in a variety of formats, including email, blog posts, videos, collateral, website, infographics, etc.
  • Work closely with product marketing, sales and business development to support customer and partner interest and engagement through content creation
  • Identify the best channels for content distribution, with an eye for maximizing reach through multiple channel distribution (website, email marketing, social media, paid content sponsorships, etc.)
  • Analyze content performance and make recommendations that inform curation and optimization strategies
  • Manage reporting for all content marketing campaigns
  • Manage contractor and agency relationships to support collateral design

Desired Experience:

  • Passion, dedication, and enthusiasm for sustainable agriculture 
  • Experience working in agriculture with an understanding of the grower mindset
  • Minimum of 5+ years of experience in content strategy and development
  • Impressive track record of engaging content creation in a variety of formats
  • Desire to break out of the norm by writing original, stimulating content that gains attention
  • Ability to manage creative teams to produce brand-compliant marketing assets
  • Ability to communicate and influence cross-functionally across all levels of management
  • Motivated, with the ability to work independently and with remote teams
  • Deep understanding of how media and content are consumed in today’s world and how we can create added value to drive engagement with our offerings
  • Self starter, adaptable, with high standards for the best quality of work

Education:

Bachelors Degree
