Talent Acquisition Manager

We are seeking a dynamic and proactive Talent Acquisition Manager to be the driving force behind recruiting and hiring at Sound Agriculture. The Talent Acquisition Manager will lead the recruiting innovation and long term initiatives that will support Sound’s ability to be a company that engages, hires and retains great people. This role will collaborate with and guide all recruiting and hiring stakeholders, including hiring managers, executive leadership, people operations and external vendors/​agencies. We are looking for someone who has experience building ideas into a cohesive and successful hiring program, can effectively manage 10+ concurrent candidate searches for a variety of roles, and is driven to find the best person for the team, not just fill the role.

Our ideal candidate is someone who is highly organized, self-motivated, and a problem solver with experience building out a high performing team at a successful technology startup. They should be collaborative and capable of independently executing their responsibilities. They will play a critical role in our continued growth and success of our company. This role reports to the Chief Administrative Officer and is based in our Emeryville, CA headquarters.

Responsibilities

  • Manage the entire recruiting process from start to finish, taking ownership of recruiting exceptional talent
  • Design and oversee recruitment strategies, recruitment processes and procedures, and candidate assessment practices
  • Build inclusive hiring practices by implementing DEI strategy and resources into the recruiting program
  • Provide engaging interview training to hiring managers and interview teams to enhance the team’s skills in effective interviewing and reduce bias
  • Oversee the onboarding process including pre-boarding, orientation and systems set-up, ensuring a seamless, robust onboarding experience for all new hires
  • Partner with hiring managers and People Operations to determine hiring needs, skillsets and experiences for each position
  • Lead our efforts to determine and develop the most effective recruiting channels (ex. Social media, resume/​job boards, Internet sourcing, campaign planning, candidate marketing materials, etc.)
  • Work closely with People Operations to establish attractive compensation packages that align with company comp structures and available market data
  • Partner with hiring managers to ensure interview teams, interview structure and schedules are in place and operating smoothly
  • Ensure that Greenhouse ATS is properly set up for each new position and kept accurate and updated as close to real-time as possible
  • Prepare and effectively facilitate interview team debriefs and candidate reviews to ensure next steps are taken within target timeframes
  • Oversee the candidate experience to ensure all candidates, even those not hired, walk away from the interview experience with a positive impression of Sound
  • Measure, track, and report on all qualitative and quantitative data to evaluate recruiting performance as well as requisition prioritization and business needs

Skills & Experience

  • 5+ years of related talent acquisition experience at successful tech or life sciences startup 
  • Excellent interpersonal, communication, and presentation skills and the ability to communicate effectively with individuals at all levels of the organization
  • Well organized and capable of juggling multiple schedules and tasks
  • Proven ability to build collaborative relationships with team members and external stakeholders/​vendors
  • Ability to interview, extract and distill job needs from hiring managers
  • Well-developed creative problem-solving skills combined with experience working in a consultative manner in a positive and collaborative fashion
  • Adept at managing external service providers to meet objectives and budgets
  • Possesses a sense of urgency; identifies challenges and problems and takes the initiative to identify solutions
  • Proven ability to meet time constraints and manage multiple tasks
  • Self-starter who is passionate about hiring exceptional talent
