From The Ground Up

Sound Agriculture was founded in 2013 by Eric Davidson, PhD and Travis Bayer, PhD, who were driven by a shared vision to transform agriculture by harnessing the natural partnership between plants and their environment.

After their undergraduate studies in microbiology at the University of Texas at Austin, the duo focused their expertise on tackling real-world problems exacerbated by climate change, starting with issues facing smallholder farmers in Sub-Saharan Africa. Sound Agriculture has grown into a force for agriculture innovation, creating technologies that reduce reliance on synthetic fertilizers and foster resilient, nutrient-efficient crops. Grounded in science and fueled by a passion for improving the global food system, Sound leverages nature to build a healthier and more abundant future.
